John McDonald is a retired stone-mason living in Scotland and writing haiku in Scots and English. He came to haiku in the mid-90s and fell in love with the genre. Since then, he has produced a very large body of work (you can find it all on his blog: zen speug) and collaborated very fruitfully with Gabriel Rosenstock on multi-lingual haiku editions.
In September 2015 Onslaught published Antlered Stag of Dawn with haiku in English and Irish by Gabriel Rosenstock and translations in Scots by John McDonald and in Japanese by Mariko Sumikura.
In 2016, we published Tea wi the Abbot: Scots Haiku with Transcreations in Irish by McDonald and Rosenstock.
John has since published a companion book Tea wi the Abbot . . . again! with English translations.
